We meet on the first Wednesday of every month at the Grove in Royston. Meetings begin at 7:15.

Meetings are a chance for party members and supporters to discuss ward issues and hear first hand about the work of the local councillors and the council as a whole. We also discuss campaigning and debate some of the local and national policy issues of the day.

Central

Cudworth

Branch secretary Bill Newman and Chairman Nigel Riley

Darfield

Royston is proud to have three Labour councillors.

Darton East

Tim Cheetham

Tim is pictured here being quizzed by a group of pupils at Royston High School about his role as a councillor and cabinet member and local government in general.

"It's a joy to spend time with the students and they always have the tough questions. As a governor at the High School I'm pleased that citizenship is being taught in such an imaginative way and being asked to give up my time to talk and listen to young people like this is a real privilege. It's a reminder just how much of an honour it is to represent my community. And improving Education is one reason I became a councillor."

Dearne South

Dodworth

Hoyland Milton

Hoyland Rockingham

"Only 25 years ago I was taught History in this same classroom! It really is time for the new school."

Bill Newman

Bill has one of the busiest roles on the council. As Cabinet spokesperson for Development he has an interest in things from Housing to Sport, Culture to Environment.
Royston has been a big winner in environmental terms recently with the Rabbit Ings redevelopment due to start soon and the ongoing Green Corridor improvements rolling out across the village.

Old Town

Graham Kyte

Royston

Graham would like to extend his sincere thanks to all those who voted for him in the recent local elections.
"It is good to know that people in Royston can separate the good work we do locally from some of the less helpful things national government are responsible for. I'm proud and delighted to be given an opportunity to continue to work hard for the people of Royston."
Graham is Chair of the Labour Group in Barnsley, Chair of the councils Environment scrutiny commission and Barnsley's representative on the award winning South Yorkshire passenger transport authority.
